Sculpsure reviews

Does SculpSure work? Let’s look at some Sculpsure reviews. I first did some Sculpsure reviews last year but I wanted to update and provide additional Sculpsure reviews as there is more information available about the response to treatments.

What is Sculpsure?

SculpSure is the first hyperthermic (heated) laser treatment for non-invasive lipolysis (fat reduction) of the flanks which has been FDA approved.

How long has SculpSure been available?

SclupSure was originally FDA approved in 2015 for the thighs and abdomen. Recently, Sculpsure has been FDA approved for the chin area. According to the manufacturer’s website,

SculpSure is the world’s first FDA-cleared laser treatment for non-invasive lipolysis of the abdomen, flanks, back, inner thighs, outer thighs and is now available for the submental (under the chin) area.”

The CDC estimates that 69% of Americans over the age of 20 are overweight. Diets and weight loss supplements more popular than ever. According to data by Marketdata Enterprises, a market research firm that specializes in tracking niche industries, Americans spend north of $60 billion annually to try to lose pounds. This includes gym memberships and diet programs. This number does not includes procedures. This is why I wanted to write about Sculpsure reviews.

Fat removal will bring up numerous products on Amazon.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons noticed an increase in body contouring procedures. In addition,  body contouring procedures have increased after weight loss surgery. I believe that a good diet and exercise is the way to go, for those of you who have stubborn areas this may be an option.

In the past few years, several non invasive fat reduction devices have come to market including UltraShape, Coolsculpting and Zerona. The latest device to come to market is SculpSure. There have not been any Sculpsure  reviews comparing these products.

What do we know about Sculpsure

  • SculpSure targets the fat that lies 1 to 1.5 centimeters under the skin. This allows the fat to dissolve in an area that is not expected to affect the skin.
  • Sculpsure uses a specific wavelength to target fat, According to SculpSure’s website,”The 1060 nm wavelength’s specific affinity for adipose tissue, coupled with minimal absorption in the dermis, allows SculpSure to efficiently treat areas of troublesome fat in just 25 minutes.”
  • Typical treatments of a an anatomical area takes approximately 25 minutes.
  • Paddles are placed on the skin and secured in place with a belt. The paddles are cooled for comfort so that you do not feel the heat.
  • There is minimal absorption of heat in the dermis (skin), most of the heat is directed towards the fat which lies below the skin.
  • You are not expected to see results right away, most results are seen with 12 weeks.
  • Over time, the body naturally eliminates the disrupted fat cells with results seen as quickly as 6 weeks and optimal results usually seen in as few as 12 weeks.
  • A series of treatments is recommended by the manufacturer but you are expected to see results with just one treatment.
  • Fat reduction does not mean weight loss. According to SculpSure’s website “The number of fat cells stored in our bodies typically remain constant throughout adult life. After the SculpSure treatment, the destroyed fat cells will not return. However, as we lose weight, the size of fat cells become smaller, but typically do not decrease in number. ”
  • Studies on Sculpsure reviews for performance by the manufacturer show that up to 24% of the fat can be melted away.

Who Is a Candidate for SculpSure

  • Sculpsure is ideal for people with trouble spots such as the love handles. It can help reduce fat in those areas that are resistant to diet and exercise.
  • Sculpsure is intended for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or less. The body mass index is based on your height and weight. Would you like to know your body mass index.
  • Sculpsure is FDA-cleared for individuals with a BMI of up to 43 for the chin area.
  • Ideally, you want to be in the best shape and let Sculpsure work on just stubborn areas, this will most likely provide you with the best results.
  • SculpSure is an option for patients who aren’t interested in a surgical intervention and the recovery time associated with it.

Sculpsure reviews

One study ny the manufacturer showed,

  • Up to 24% fat reduction in multisite trials of over 100 patients

Who is not a candidate for SculpSure

  • If a patient has put on too much weight, Sculpsure is not an ideal treatment. SculpSure can only penetrate 1.5 centimeters of fat so deeper fat will not be affected.
  • People with very loose skin are also not ideal candidates. SculpSure can help reduce fat but it is not expected to tighten the skin.

Does Sculpsure tighten skin?

  • Sculpsure is not FDA approved to tighten skin. We know that heating the skin will cause an increase in collagen as the tissue repairs itself which may give the appearance of some tightening.

Will Sculpsure cause loose skin?

  • There is a possibility of loose skin but most physicians have not reported this. The heat provided from Sculpsure may help build up collagen decreasing the risk of loose skin. In addition, the fat is absorbed over a period of time allowing the skin to retract back.

Does Sculpsure remove cellulite?

  • Sculpsure is not FDA approved to remove cellulite. If you want to treat cellulite consider alternative treatments such as a manual cellulite “blaster” which is a handheld device that manually massages the skin. This helps improve cellulites appearance temporarily.

Side effects of Sculpsure

  • Slight swelling, tingling, redness, or tenderness may occur after your session with Sculpsure.
  • Sculpsure treatments may produce a range of no soreness to mild or moderate soreness for a few days to about a week post treatment.
  • There appears to be a correlation with the amount of fat in the area that is treated and the soreness that develops.
  • Patients appear to be more likely to develop soreness if there is a lot of fat in the area that is treated.
  • Patients usually do not complain of pain during the treatment as the laser does not burn the skin, its target area lies below the skin in the fat.
  • Sculpsure may cause more swelling in the thighs than the abdomen.

Nonsurgical alternatives to SculpSure

sculpsure reviewsCoolSculpting uses cryo lipolysis (cooling) to target and kill fat cells. There are an increasing number of companies who are beginning to offer this service such as coolsculpting mesa az as it becomes more and more popular.

Zerona uses cool laser to help reduce the fat.

Ultrashape uses targeted ultrasound to reduce fat.

There are no prospective studies which have compared all noninvasive fat reduction devices to each other. Be an educated consumer if you are considering a procedure then search reviews talk to people who have had these procedures.

Invasive alternatives to SculpSure

  • Liposuction can be performed as an alternative to SculpSure for patients who want to achieve fat reduction. Liposuction will be able to remove fat deeper than 1.5 centimeters as the cannulas can be inserted into a deeper layer of fat. You will have swelling after the procedure but results are noticeable right after the procedure. Liposuction will require post-operative healing. The patient will be asked to refrain from exercise for a few weeks and most patients will be asked to wear compression garments during the post operative period. Liposuction will also require small incisions. If this is something that interests you then you should check out something like this advanced laser liposuction to give you a better idea of what is on offer.
  • Abdominoplasty also known as a tummy tuck is another alternative to SculpSure. It can help eliminate excess skin and fat which has accumulated after childbirth. An abdominoplasty will usually require general anesthesia and a scar in the lower abdomen. It is associated with significant down time. Your doctor can best guide you but exercise is generally not recommended for a few weeks.

My 2 cents- Please keep in mind that cosmetic procedures should not be a treatment for obesity and should not be substituted for diet and exercise. If you decide to have Sculpsure treatments remember that a healthy lifestyle goes a long way and will have better long term results.

Summary of Sculpsure reviews

In summary, my sculpsure review has not changed my opinion. Diet and exercise is the best way to go for achieving a lifetime of health. The technology has come a long way since these products were first introduced. Sculpsure is proven to reduce the appearance of fat but you should be at optimal weight to achieve the best results.
